The Botswana Safari

A 7 night/8 day safari ...

The safari runs from Maun to Maun and uses a selection of fine bush camps located on hand picked sites within the Delta. It is possible to connect from Kasane and other areas of Botswana at an extra cost.

The safari visits three classic camps within the Okavango Delta and Moremi Game Reserve over a period of seven nights/eight days. Camps are chosen depending on availability of space in each camp and the best area for the time of the year (see individual camp descriptions).

  • 2 nights dry land activities Okavango Delta camp
  • 2 nights wet activities Okavango Delta camp
  • 3 nights Moremi Game Reserve camp

* The order of the two camps in the Okavango Delta may be swapped around on some itineraries

Highlights
  • All the major habitats and ecotones of the Okavango are preserved in these areas.
  • Elephant, Lion, Warthog, Lechwe, Hippo, Giraffe, Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo, and Tsessebe amongst others, are found throughout the year and represent just a few of the animals to be found in the area.
  • There are over 400 bird species in the Delta
  • Wild dogs are resident near to some of the camps
  • There are a variety of hides built in strategic spots for extended game viewing of a variety of birds and animals, especially during siesta hours
  • The plains game numbers in the area, peak during the dry season and predator concentrations are good throughout the year.
  • Visitor and safari company numbers strictly controlled guaranteeing low visitor numbers and good conservation practices

Best time of year:
  • Game viewing varies depending on the season - wild dogs tend to den in June, and the pups might be seen towards end of July. 
  • Plains game numbers increase during the dry season (July to October) with a corresponding increase in the number of predators.
  • December to May is lush, green, with plenty of grass and less dust. As it is prime breeding season. lots of babies are to be seen!
  • Birding is generally good late October to early March
  • Best weather - May/June (cool, still green, less dust and heat haze, before the start of the busy season in July/August/September)
 
Tips and notes:
  • An extension to Chobe National Park and/or the Kalahari Desert area is easily arranged
  • Connections to the Victoria Falls are uncomplicated from Maun and very easy from Kasane
  • Prices include accommodation, all meals, drinks (except premium imported wines/spirits), scheduled lodge activities, light aircraft transfers and applicable landing fees and departure taxes, laundry,
  • This safari can be arranged on any day of the week and runs year round
  • Advance bookings are essential for July/August/September
