Day-to-day Itinerary
Day 1: Morning transfer to Cape Town station where you will board one of Rovos Rail's Edwardian Trains that will be the base for your journey. At 11h00 hrs the train departs Cape Town Station. Arriving into Matjiesfontein at 18h00, there is the opportunity to explore this Victorian village before dinner and overnight on the train.
Day 2: The train arrives into Kimberley at 13h00 hrs. After lunch at the exclusive Kimberley Club, there is a visit to the famous Big Hole and Kimberley Diamond Museum, followed by a ride on the historic trams. The train will depart Kimberley at 17h20, with dinner and overnight on the train.
Day 3: Arriving into Pretoria by 11h30 hrs, the day includes a light lunch followed by a Pretoria City Tour. The train will depart Pretoria for Hoedspruit at 18h00 hrs.
Day 4: The train arrives at Hoedspruit at 11h00 where you will be transferred to either Thornybush Game Lodge or Kapama Game Lodge for two nights full board accommodation and various game-viewing activities. Both of these 5 star properties are set in their own private game reserve and are part of the Greater Kruger National Park.
Day 5 After breakfast, you are able to partake in the multitude of activities on offer at both lodges or can merely take in the stunning surroundings with some pure rest and relaxation. Lunch, dinner and overnight at either Thornybush or Kapama Game Lodge.
Day 6: Following breakfast at the lodge, and an early morning game drive around the reserve, you will be transferred back to the train at Hoedspruit for a 12h00 departure and lunch on board. The train will arrive at Beit Bridge on the South Africa/Zimbabwe border at 23h00 for border formalities.
Day 7: The day will be spent on board the train traveling through Zimbabwe's stunning countryside. There will also be the opportunity to attend lectures aboard the train in both the mornings and evenings.
Day 8: At 11h00 hrs the train will pull into Victoria Falls Station, where you will be transferred to the Victoria Falls Hotel. After settling into this classic hotel, you will be taken on a cruise on the majestic Zambezi River to watch the evening sunset in style with sundowners in hand. Dinner and overnight will be provided by the Victoria Falls Hotel.
Day 10: This day will be spent at leisure where you have the opportunity to explore the village and take a tour of the mighty Victoria Falls. Various activities are available in the Vic falls area ranging from golf, to the adrenaline pumping bungi jump. Early in the afternoon you will be transferred to Victoria Falls Station for 16h00 departure. By 17h30 hrs the train will arrive into Livingstone for border formalities. Dinner and overnight will be spent on the train.
Day 11: The day will be spent on board the train traveling through Zambia, passing through the capital Lusaka at 13h30 hrs. Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be served on board.
Day 12: The train will arrive into Kanona at 08h00 for a brunch outing to Kundalila Falls, one of Zambia's most beautiful waterfalls, set in an area of scenic meadows and forests on the edge of the Muchinga escarpment. At 13h00 the train will depart Kanona and head north eastward toward the Tanzanian border, where it will pass through Mpika and Kasama overnight.
Day 13: With breakfast and lunch on board, by 14h00 you will arrive at the Nakonde/Tunduma for Zambian/Tanzania border formalities. The rest of the day will be spent traveling northward through southern Tanzania with dinner and overnight on board the train.
Day 14 At 10h00 the train will arrive in the town of Makambako which lies at the junction of the Tanzam Highway and the road southeast toward Songea. During the journey from Makambako to Mlimba the train will descend a spectacular pass with stunning views of southern Tanzania. All meals and overnight will be onboard.
Day 15: By 10h00 hrs the you will pass through the town of Kiduna and continue the journey through Mzenga to Dar es Salaam on Tanzania's east coast. Breakfast will be served on board the train. At 10h00 the train will pull into Tazara Station in Dar es Salaam where your African Adventure from Cape Town to Dar es Salaam will conclude.

Tips and Notes:
• There is a Pre-Train Tour at an additional cost. This tour incorporates a stay at the luxury Cape Grace hotel on Cape Town's waterfront, a tour of the Cape winelands and tour of the Cape Peninsula.
• A Post-train tour can also be incorporated nicely at the end of the trip . The 7 night trip takes in Zanzibar, Ngorongoro Crater and the Serengeti.
• Alternatively we will personally organise a tailor made trip anywhere in eastern and southern Africa before or after this magnificent trip to suit your needs.
• Please check with the relevant embassies for your visa requirements which should be purchased prior to departure to Africa.
• Passengers are requested to have yellow fever inoculations before commencing on this journey.

A variety of National Airlines including South African Airways, KLM and British Airways now fly direct to Cape Town International Airport. Alternatively, many other national airlines fly to Jo'burg International Airport with connecting flights to Cape Town.
