The Kenya Safari

Trip code: Z524

This safari covers Kenya's finest game viewing areas staying in owner run traditional tented camps, hosted by professional guides, and rounded off with fine Italian cuisine.
Package includes:
  • 1 night Macushla House, Nairobi - bed/breakfast
  • 3 nights at Tortilis Camp in Amboseli National Park
  • 3 nights Elephant Pepper Camp in Kenya's famous Masai Mara Reserve

Highlights:
  • The Masai Mara is the best animal reserve in Kenya; a great wedge of undulating grassland supporting an annual wildebeest migration.  At any one time you can see a dozen different species – or more on any game excursion.
  • Amboseli National Park is a small and very touristy park, redeemed by the stunning spectacle of Mt Kilimanjaro towering over the park.
  • Amboseli is elephant country par excellence; good numbers of herbivores are present, predators are relatively scarce.

Best Time of Year

  • Elephant Pepper Camp is closed 16 March, April, May, November and 1-15 December
  • Best time to photograph Kilimanjaro is during rainy season (November) when the air is much clearer.
  • The best time for the Mara is in August/September during the wildebeest migration.

Tips and Notes

  • These are true tented camps and although very comfortable are not luxury lodges; these are not for you if you like all the conveniences of modern life.
  • The camps are remote; you need to take everything with you.
  • There is a good sized swimming pool at Tortilis Camp
  • If you have time during your first day in Nairobi, the Karen Blixen museum and the elephant orphanage just outside Nairobi are worth a visit
  • The Carnivore Restaurant near the domestic airport offers an excellent, meaty menu for dinner on your first night or on your way to your outgoing flight on your last day if you have time!
  • Internal flight transfers are on Air Kenya, baggage restriction 20kgs on normal flights; 15kgs on small aircraft, preferably in soft bags
  • ALL FARES AND TAXES ARE SUBJECT TO INCREASE WITHOUT PRIOR NOTICE AND AT THE DISCRETION OF THE AIRLINES AND GOVERNMENT. ALL FARES ARE SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY IN THE CORRECT BOOKING CLASSES AT THE TIME OF MAKING THE RESERVATION
