Accommodating just six guests on the edge of the Mwaleshi River and wherever possible keeping the camp exclusively for each party, this safari camp is a genuine owner run bushcamp. There is no camp routine, meal times and activities are arranged to suit each party of guests
Walking is the prime safari activity and the best way to see the abundance of wildlife in close range of camp. Driven excursions to the Chipopoma Falls on the Luangwa River or up to the escarpment to view the awesome Luangwa Valley and the entirely different environment of the Central African plateau, are part of the safari activities.
Swimming is possible in the shallow, clear waters of the streams, the temperatures rise to great heights by the end of the season.
Access is by small plane air charter (45mins) from Mfuwe airport in South Luangwa to Lubonga airstrip. Road transfer to camp (1hr); the nearest supermarket is 7hrs away!
Guest rooms are spread along the river bank with ample space and privacy, each has an en suite bathroom with flush loo and hot shower. The dining area, bar and library are low key and under the shade of a huge mahogany tree, (the library has 250 titles on Zambia and its wildlife). There is no generator, no noise and lighting only by solar or hurricane lamp.
Born in Uganda, brought up in Zambia, Rod is a true naturalist and has been operating/guiding safaris in the North Luangwa since 1989 aged only 18. Guz, also Zambian born, is a trained European chef offering exquisite 4 course dinners, homemade breads, cakes, salads and coffee throughout the day, (Guz is famous in Swiss and French ski chalets during the off season at Kutandala)!
