The Benguerra Island Beach Safari

Trip Code Z513

Benguerra Lodge exudes an East-African-cum-Arabic decor in line with the ancient tradition of the Bazaruto Archipelago, once the playground of the Queen of Sheba and the trading route of old Arabia. While it is an island lodge, care has been taken to maintain the feeling that one is nevertheless embarking upon an African marine safari.

At night one may experience the wonderful whisper of a gentle sea breeze brushing the cheek, or the squeak of clean sand walking along the half-moon beach of Benguerra Bay on a full-moon night

Packages include:

3 meals per day, teas & coffees, daily laundry, medical rescue insurance, non motorised sports, 17% Mozambican tax and the following:

  • 2 - 3 night stay: Free landrover cruise with picnic lunch
  • 4 - 5 night stay: Free landrover trip with picnic lunch and dhow sunset cruise
  • 6 - 8 night stay: Free landrover trip with picnic lunch, dhow sunset cruise, snorkel trip with visit to pansy island/Bazaruto south point
  • 9+ night stay: Free landrover trip with picnic lunch, dhow sunset cruise, 2 snorkel trips or 1 dive with visit to pansy island/Bazaruto south point

Highlights
  • The luxury thatched Benguerra Lodge offers exclusivity in a tranquil and remote setting.
  • A mosaic of forest, savannah and wetland ecosystems sustains a diverse population of flora and fauna.
  • Meals are comprised of freshly caught fish, calamari and crab, together with exotic Portuguese dishes.
  • Benguerra Island is a snorkeller and diver’s paradise; there is the additional thrill of night dives.
  • Fishing is superb with the exhilaration of fighting marlin or other famous game fish.
  • You can sail to Pansy Island, a unique breeding ground for the pansy shell.
  • Benguerra has 115 bird species and a trip to the mainland can easily be arranged.
