Best time of the year:
  • July to October are the best big game viewing periods - May to August moderate and dry; September to October very hot and dry
  • November to April generally hot and wet; best time for birders as the large variety of species is boosted by Palearctic and intra-African migrants
 
Tips and Notes:
  • Malaria is more widespread during the rainy season; parts of Malawi have malaria present all year however; the Nyika Plateau is free from malaria
  • High lying areas (Nyika) are warmer at night during the rainy season; take warm clothes if travelling between April and October for the early mornings and evenings; fires are lit in each bedroom at the lodge at night
  • A greater variety of fruit and vegetables is available during rainy season
