Elephant Back Safaris
Elephant Back Safaris is owned and managed by the ardent conservationists, Alistair Rankin, Colin Dhillon, and Murray and Kenneth Collins. Operating within a half-million acre private concession in Botswana’s western Okavango Delta, Elephant Back Safaris offer one of Africa’s most unique safari experiences from their base at Abu Camp.
The base camp was originally established by Randall J Moore and is named after his legendary elephant ‘Abu’, who starred in many films including ‘The Power of One, and ‘White Hunter Black Heart’.
The camp consists of luxuriously furnished en-suite Bedouin styled tents accommodating ten guests in absolute exclusivity. Set apart from the camp, Elephant House is a recent addition and offers the same style and luxury as Abu Camp.
Elephant Back Safaris, and their healthy herd of twelve elephants, attempt to bridge the gap between man and animal, concentrating on promoting a comprehensive educational awareness of the importance of the African elephant to the surrounding bush, and their conservations issues, and offer one of the most unique methods of game viewing in magnificent surroundings.
Game drives, guided walks and mokoro trips are optional activities available from Abu Camp.
