Makalolo Plains is set in an area that is ecologially diverse, with vast, open palm-fringed plains, graslands, acacia woodlands and teak forests, within Hwange National Park.

The rooms are situated in large and comfortable tents with en-suite bathrooms with hot and and cold running water, showers and flushing toilets as well as an additional outdoor shower.

The living area includes a dining room, bar, plunge pool and open fire area. Most of the camp has been built on wooden platforms raised off the ground. There is also a honeymoon tent with an outdoor bath.
