Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is Uganda’s most popular game reserve and often considered the most scenic.
Situated in the Rift Valley system of southwest Uganda, the park has a total area of 1,978km˛, and is bounded to the west by the Ishasha River and Lake Edward along the Congolese border, to the north by Kasese and the Ruwenzori foothills, and to the south by the little known Kigezi Wildlife Reserve.
From open savannah to rainforest, from dense papyrus swamps and brooding crater lakes to the vastness of Lake Edward, it is no wonder that Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts one of the highest biodiversity ratings of any game park or reserve in the world.
The Queen Elizabeth National Park boasts almost 100 mammal species and an outstanding 606 bird species making the park a superb safari territory, in which elephants, a large amount of hippos, the elusive giant forest hog and handsome Uganda kob are all regularly sighted, making the park great for game viewing.
Queen Elizabeth National Park can be visited at any time of the year.
