An inspiring joint venture between the owners of Sausage Tree Camp & Chiawa Camp, Old Mondoro Bush Camp was opened in 2002. Old Mondoro takes a step back from the sophistication of other safari camps and focuses instead on providing guests with a more down to earth though no less rewarding safari experience..
Accommodation at Old Mondoro Bush Camp consists of reed chalets with canvas roofs and blinds with superb views. Each chalet has been constructed around an ancient acacia winter thorn tree and is lit by classic paraffin lanterns at night.
Two bush chalets each with two twin/single size beds, and two bush chalets each with a double, plus one guide/pilot bush chalet with two twin/single beds.
Accompanying each tent is an en-suite bathroom with flush loos, wash basins and showers. Traditional hot-bucket showers are available on request. Comfy beds and mosquito nets complete the accommodation.
An enthusiastic team of 12 professionals who take care of Old Mondoro Bush Camp and its guests is overseen by Jason Mott of Sausage Tree Camp and Grant Cummings of Chiawa Camp.
A canvas and reed lounge/bar area overlooks a myriad of islands in the Zambezi River. Activities generally consist of morning walks and afternoon game drives. A motor boat for afternoon game viewing on the Zambezi River is also available.
Old Mondoro Bush Camp is a great spot for elephants, leopards, and seasonal wild dog sightings.
