Q: How safe is the Seychelles?
A:
The Seychelles is perfectly safe for visitors with no reports of any unrest or any political instability and an extremely low crime rate.

Q: I want to go on an island holiday, why would you recommend the Seychelles?
A:
The Seychelles have become known throughout the world as one of the best island getaways. This is mainly because of the unspoilt beaches and pristine natural environment, the warm, stunning water of the Indian Ocean, the excellent diving and wonderful marine creatures that are to be found here.  One of the greatest things about the Seychelles is the weather – which is nearly always pleasant and warm, winter or summer – and because of its location as it is not prone to tropical storms.  The government has successfully controlled the level of tourism, so you won’t encounter huge crowds or sprawling resorts like on other islands.  The Seychelles is a nature lover’s dream come true, perhaps a bit on the expensive side, but it’s worth it.  Another great advantage is that there is no malaria on the island.

Q: What else is there to do apart from watersport?
A:
For those who are not interested in the magnificent waters of the Seychelles, there are superb hiking opportunities and rock climbing.  Excursions to attractions like the fabulous protected Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve (a World Heritage Site), where you will see a real, prehistoric palm tree forest, are popular.

Q: When is the best time to visit?
A:
It depends on what you want to do.  The weather is good year round, but certain seasons are reputedly better for certain activities.  For windsurfing and sailing, May and October are the best months.  For diving, March to May and September to November have proven to be the best. The busiest season is December to January and July and August, and if this is the time you were planning on visiting the islands, it would be best to plan ahead.

Q: Is there malaria on the Seychelles?
A:
No

Q: What kind of animals can I expect to see?
A:
The Seychelles are not really known for mammals – on the land that is!  The islands have however, fantastic birdlife and reptile species, and of course, a whole range of tropical fish and coral species.  Keep an eye open for the Seychelles Black Parrot which is only found only on Praslin island.  On the island of Aldabra Atoll, you may see the white-throated rail; the sole remaining species of flightless bird in the Indian Ocean.  There are also giant tortoises of different species to be seen around the islands.
