Built under huge red mahogany grove trees creating cool shade, Gwala Camp is situated in an untouched section of the southern section of the South Luangwa National Park close to the Kapamba River.

The camp can be accessed by vehicle but all safaris takes place on foot.

Gwala Camp is closely associated with other bushcamps in the South Luangwa National Park. These include Kapamba Bush Camp, Bilimungwe, Chindeni, Chamilandu,  Kuyenda Bush Camp, Zungulila Walking Trails and the larger Mfuwe Lodge.
